Vase

After Rachel Ruysch’ paintings I wanted to make a vase for the paper flowers.

I tried both making a vase on the wheel and handbuilding. I decided to make a coil-hand-build vase because of the labour intensity related to it and the symbolics of layering new rings on the previous.

To be able to fire these vases I needed to find a partner because at the Academy it was troublesome to fire the vases safely and at desired temperature for the glaze. Potter Tom was so kind to help me out with the firing.

At the exhibition I will most likely not use the vase but it can be part of the shop.
